First up : "Session Variables Do Not Persist Between Requests After You Install Internet Explorer Security Patch" or to put it another way "don't use underscores in server names" (this last link refers to my own notes on the subject, Micro$oft's solution of renaming the server not always being particularly practical in a real world situation).
Secondly - "ASP Session Variables Empty When Office 2000 MIME Types Are Streamed with Internet Explorer" - i.e. nothing or a JavaScript error (bizzarely in the form of a graphic of the letter J) appear in the Word Document or Excel Spreadsheet you've tried to dynamically display within MSIE by changing the MIME Types in your ASP code. Read Micro$oft's notes for the full details but it basically boils down to installing the latest service pack for MS Office to fix the problem.
Finally some background reading in the DNS Centre for Windows 2000.

Update: Word on the street is this story was a mis-timed April Fool and not a word is true. Could be. OR it could be that they are spreading this news to discredit the original story and it's all a conspiracy.

Nintendo's iconic Mario goes on a killing rampage. Must be the pressure of fixing all those burst pipes. I don't know...plumbers these days...Update: This game was out of action but is now thankfully hosted at Newgrounds [A BurstFilms game].

Well I haven't posted any diary entries for ages - if you don't count the new photolog - but I've been driven to put finger to keyboard by the fact that I found out 5 minutes before I left work that there is a train strike tomorrow. Hooray I thought - what a fantabulous excuse for Friday off - but no South West Trains are uneffected by the strike. A*se.
Still - don't know what I am complaining about - work has been rather good fun recently. I've still mainly been in the City but have also had a couple of visits to Wandsworth which made a nice change of scenery and brought up lots of new IIS challenges when I thought I had seen them all now.
Outside of work - after last week which was outrageous - it's been a very quiet week this week but that's all due to change on Saturday with Andy's birthday drinks - that sees another pub crawl down the Thames for me. I could go pro at this soon. As always the arrival of Andy's birthday means that mine is just round the corner - I hit 29 this year. Current favourite for venue is Lowlander which I was planning on visiting with Adrian anyway - who I better let in on this plan. More on this nearer the time but expect no pictures as Adrian has banned them.
