Other news with me is that I am now a dual OS household with my return from the North with my Mum & Dad's iMac in tow. More on this soon. Sunday is Mac familiarisation day in the lazylaces flat (although I have already got it attached to my router, and web access and mail configured) - sorry to go on and on about this but I'm finding the whole new operating system thing quite exciting.
Update: I'm also gettting incoming links from milk and cookies now. *joy*

I swear there are certain people I have worked with that could have written this guide with their eyes closed. It might be Java specific in some cases, but most examples are applicable across languages.

I've been enjoying a week off work this week, but with no plans to speak of what have I been up to?
Friday night saw me meeting up with my ex-flatmate Andy to go to (imho) the best bar in London - Lowlander. Various beer experiments later, including some awsome champagne beer, I woke up on his sofa around about lunchtime on Saturday. Declining a visit to the pub to watch the fooball and rugby, a short trip from Fulham, via the District Line and Wimbledon station, later I got home late afternoon on Saturday. Still in my work clothes from Friday. Yum.
Saturday night I went out with my ex-girlfriend (long story) for dinner in Camberley. It's not a town that up until recently I'd recommend a night out in but the restaurant/brasserie we went to, "Alcatraz", was excellent. I had Sea Bass for the first time which was so good it rekindled my supressed love of seafood.
Sunday I put my techie hat firmly in place and went to visit the Blackwater Mobility Trust where I configured a couple of laptops for dial-up web access and installed Norton Internet Security. It's not a product I've used before, but from tinkering with it, it all seemed very easy to use and set-up. I still kind of like Zonealarm as a firewall though.
Monday and Tuesday I mainly slept, it's not something I normally have the luxury of doing for any great period of time, and watched trashy daytime television, but I did manage to fit in setting up a wireless network in the flat. Thanks to a Linksys router I now have broadband in all corners of my flat (and beyond). The first thing I found from a scan on my old laptop though was that the router purchase was redundant as someone else in the building is running an un-encrypted wireless network. Doh! Still the extra ethernet ports will come in handy when I get my (donated) Mac at the end of this week :o) My wireless network is encrypted and protected as much as possible by the way.
Today I went furniture shopping as I've spent the last couple of weeks sleeping on the sofa as I have no bed anymore (very long story). Thanks to a very nice young lady in the Guildford branch of Habitat I now have a bed being delivered in just over a week and I got 20% off. Nice. I just need a big chest of drawers (I currently have stuff EVERYWHERE) and I'll be fully furnitured again.
Tomorrow sees me meeting with Andy again for an unknown, due to bad planning, destination in London, and then I'm off to Stoke for the weekend to see my folks and to pick up my Mum & Dad's old iMac. Hopefully my first Mac originated post will be on Sunday.
That encapsulates, in rather tedious detail, my week of loafing. I really am rather productive the rest of the time. Honest.

Some very nice icon sets for OSX and XP, not to mention some beautiful desktop images are to be found over at pixelgirl, including my very pretty current desktop. On Sunday the lazylaces flat become a dual Mac/PC household with the arrival of my Mum & Dad's old 15" iMac so I'll be able to use both types of icon set :o)
