Ewe-dunnit mystery

I can almost hear the sniggers at the beeb as they elect to post news stories on how funny the headline is, rather then how newsworthy the story. I did laugh though. Forty sheep mysteriously appear in a Scottish farm field - obviously it's a "ewe-dunnit mystery". Drum-roll, high-hat. I thank you [via google news].

Lorem Ipsum

I was looking for some faux comments to enter into a Intranet comments system I was working on the other day, when I remembered this Latin-a-likey prose an advertising firm I worked at many a moon ago used to use in the same sort of situation. A quick google later revealed the stuff I was looking for was Lorem Ipsum and it's the standard dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. What's more there's a handy random on-line ipsum generator.

So next time you need some random text, that doesn't really say anything, you know where to go. Alternatively you could just <Ctrl>C <Ctrl>V some of my blog posts.

IDS

It won't come as any surprise, at least if you are reading this in the UK, that IDS can make you sick. However in a happy coincidence (or is it?) of acronym-ing the ex-Conservative leader's initials are now the shortened version of the latest afflicition to hit the office worker - "Irritable Desk Syndrome".

To avoid IDS essentially do the exact opposite of my pigsty like desk, in my sauna-esque office: organise your desk to reduce stress levels and increase productivity, and prevent dehydration and overheating at work to promote higher energy levels. Also, of course, it's advisable to steer clear of Tory party conferences.

Engadget

If gadgets tweek your nipples (guilty your honour) you're probably already reading gizmodo, the gadgets weblog, on a regular basis. Engadget is a gizmodo spin-off (well it's from a ex-gizmodo author) that provides more of the same and is presented in a similar lovely fashion. I haven't decided which I like best yet although I suspect that having two gadgety news-sources, rather than one, is what I like most. Expect a permalink on the right-hand column to appear when I can be bothered to crack open notepad to update my html.

And if that isn't enough, if you are feeling ultra geeky (guilty once again your honour, will you take the first offence into consideration?) you'll be checking out the JavaScript weblog faster than you can say "I can't believe I used a single equals sign when I meant to use a double equals again" (a little JavaScript programming-ism for you there).

Lazy Appeal

I'm fairly lazy, when I get the chance, as the lazy in the domain name suggests, but I'm also very busy in my work life the rest of the time. Recently I've found it hard to find a lot of new content for the site as I've been sleeping in my spare time, or hard at work (I'm currently working on a complex intranet system for a very big Lloyds underwriting syndicate - my working hours have extended out to 7.30am to 7pm, plus commute, Zzzzzzzzz....).

Anyway this is a lazy appeal to you all to provide me/us with some interesting/entertaining viewing material, and to promote yourself in the process, whilst giving me a bit of a break. Post your favourite web links in the comments to this post, or mail me using the link at the bottom of the page, and I'll do my best to include it on the site along with any link you choose to provide to a web project of your own. My own disgression is the only judging factor, and by now you'll have seen I prefer flash animation and game nonsense, but don't let that constrain you.

There's no time limit or rules, but I'm likely to be busy until at least Monday night (29/3 20:30GMT) so that's when I'll most likely start sorting through what, if anything, has been sent to me, late entries are most welcome though. Current/new web favourites and popular links are welcome, but all-time favourites are preferred. Some of my favorite web content goes back several years and I'd most like to see something classic I've missed.
