On the upside, a tense 90 minutes saw England go through to the quarter finals this evening. Mr. Rooney we salute you. Not a normal football fan, lazylaces was glued to his television set for the whole match, well for those sections he wasn't 2 foot off the sofa screaming at the top of his voice. Job well done.

#1 Dumb Brit

A warning to all you bloggers out there: don't become too obsessed with your stats. It's infinately depressing the day that you find out that you, and when I say "you", I mean a picture of you personally, are the #1 google image search for "Dumb Brits" (well to be totally honest I haven't laughed quite as hard in some time). Aren't google rankings based on the text of inward links? I hate you all...;o)

Little Lost Head

I have no idea what this game is really called as all the text describing it is in Japanese, but the idea of the thing is that a little girl's head floats away on a balloon and you have to help her retrieve it (no, really). So I've christened the game &quotLittle Lost Head" for want of a better name.

That aside it's rather a nice example of another point'n'click game, it reminds me of a cross between samorost and chasm, and it's really rather cute (if you ignore the fact that you're controlling a decapitated girl's body).

As usual feel free to post a comment if you get stuck, although I should warn you that I'm currently stuck on level 3 myself (why doesn't the pattern the bird shows me work?), but perhaps the very kind Incog Neato can help since they mailed me the link (have you completed it Incog?).

Monorail!

Checking out google news the other day I sprayed piping hot coffee over my keyboard when I read the news of a proposal to build a monorail across London.

There seem to be some serious objections from Transport For London regarding such minor issues as practicality and cost. I especially like the part where they dismiss it as an "anorak's* dream" (I have to admit my inner anorak* was looking at the picture, and saying in it's best Beavis and Butthead voice "cooool").

What really killed the idea for me though was that all I could think of as I read the story was the episode of the Simpson's where Springfield gets duped by the monorail salesman. Remember the song? "Well, sir, there's nothing on earth Like a genuine, Bona fide, Electrified, Six-car Monorail!"

*Anorak - UK Slang - Noun - An often socially inept person, having an obsessive interest in a hobby or subject. Usually has little or no fashion sense, and errs towards eccentricity. Originates from the 'trainspotter' look, of wearing anoraks; spending so much time at the end of station platforms in all weathers necessitates the wearing of such attire. Cf. 'trainspotter'. Derog.

99 Rooms

Not one, not two, but 99 rooms of flash point'n'click adventuring. It's not difficult, but it is plentiful, beautiful, atmospheric and spooky. Be sure to turn your sound up, and be careful of shivers down your spine and jumping out of your skin in a couple of the rooms. Excellent.

Update: currently you can't get into any one of the 99 rooms because their bandwidth limit as been exceeded, I highly recommend checking back though, it's well worth it.
