Thanks to everyone who has been in touch to make sure I'm ok. Despite being due in the city this morning I was south of the river when the blasts hit, and I'm now out of the city at home (we closed up the office to make sure people had time to get home without public transport). I'm fine, and as difficult as it was to call around to find out (the mobile networks were jammed), all my friends in the city are safe too. Transport permitting I shall be back working in the city tomorrow.
I'm sure all our thoughts are with those who weren't so lucky and their family and friends.
Update: It's Friday morning now and I'm back at my desk in central London. Judging by the packed train I travelled in on it's business as usual today, although the streets seem quieter. A police helicopter is constantly circling the skys above the city. Hopefully all will be well today.

:It's disgusting what some people are capable of, it really is. Even though I don't live near London it's still strange, and quite scary, to think how close to home this attack was.
Kit
:Glad that you and your family and friends are okay. The pictures from inside the tube stations are very frightening...
Much love from the US.

:Looks as if the Gene Pool could use some cholrine. Too bad people can't find better uses for their time.

This is a terrible attack but if it's any consolation it dosn't look there will be another attack for a while because of the obvious problem it would be to anybody wanting to cause harm and . Again I send my condolences to everybody affected by this tradgedy don't let the people responsable achive thier goal of frightening you, stay strong.

I am glad you are safe and well Graeme, but my sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the people and their families and friends, who were caught up in such a monstrous act.
I can only hope that there are no more lives lost.

:Terror is bad. I'm glad you're ok.
Do you think this explosions are due to the 100,000+ Iraqis assassinated with the Brits help?
Or is it due the Iraqi oil being looted by your fellow contrymen in a lies based war?
Please, be fine.

:My heart is with you and your country Graeme. I'm very sorry for the tradgedy and only pray that you and your loved ones are safe.
And to the comment posted by Af: I am a US citizen and very proud of my country. While I may not agree with war, these people need to be stopped for reasons such as this. Instead of focusing on why it started, in which if you lived through the first attacks you would know, why dont you focus on helping all the innocent families who are fighting there and the many different countries who have been attacked and who are still standing proud. We as a world need to stick together through this and not focus on placing blame on each other, especially during times such as these.

:Graeme,
Thanks for letting us know you and yours are okay and for creating a venue to send our best. The news here is only about London -- everyone is shocked. This is a sad day for the free world.
Best wishes, and our hearts go out to everyone affected.

:Glad to hear youīre ok. Those attacks were terrible, I just left London 2 day ago, I am very shocked.
People, itīs no use pointing fingers and trying to find people to blame and different justificatives. It is this kind of atittude that develops into situations like these. There are people wrong on both sides, and no innocent life taken, whether it is in London or Iraq, justifies any of that.
Please letīs learn from this horrible episode. Let it generate awareness that we have to strive as much as we can to live in peace. Fear, hatred and intolerance are all related. Use your role as a citizen - wherever youīre a citizen from - to give peace and freedom a voice thatīs louder than any blast.
all my love

:"Israel first tried to explain away Netanyahu's advance warning of the bombings by saying Scotland Yard warned them. Now, Scotland Yard has reported that there was no such warning issued by them. So Israel is trying to change the story by saying that Netanyahu received his warning after the first blast. But the first blast was reported as a power surge blowing a transformer for almost an hour after it happened, so even a warning immediately after the blast happened is still suspicious."

G, is it true?

I used to live in London and used to go to the Russell Square tube station almost daily when I went to do my Masters degree. An ex-boyfriend now works near the Aldgate Station! If it weren't for my husband, I might still be living in London now!
Hope everyone living in London is sound and safe.

:Heavens, I was brought back to 9/11 when I heard this on the radio. Thank goodness you are alright and may you and your be safe. My hope right now is to stop the rational that causes these horrible crimes. May Mr. Blair and other world leaders think throughly how they shall proceed, and not go half cocked like Bush and make things worse. Love from all of New York, USA.

:I am sorry, I didn't mean for my message to sound so political, I just hope we can come up with a more permenent, peaceful solution to the madness, is all.

:Please bless all those who could not make it through the blasts and I offer my sincere condolences to the families of these victims. Such atrocities and terrible attacks are condemned by all and I feel so upset for all those affected even though I live rather far away. Also, congrats to London for winning the IOC bid! :Good to hear that you ar fine. Why don't you Terrorists leave us alone and go after whoever created the crazy frog?

:God, as the number of victims keeps rising and the news slowly trickling in as the number rises it does bring back that horrible feeling of September 11th and March 11th back. I am so sorry that the people of England are going through this horrible experience. My heart continues to go out to all of you. Politics aside, it is a shame when ANYONE is killed who is innocent, whether its a casualty of war or peace, or a terror attack. I am from Michigan where there is a large Arab and Muslim population, in fact the largest outside the middle east. I am not Arabic or Muslim but I hope that everyone around the world condems the terrorists not the people from which he or she derives. I live amongst many, many good Muslim and Arabic people who also share the desire to stop the innocent killings and the terror and hatred from which these people feed on. I hope that your arabic community in london doesn't recieve the backlash from the community that i saw happen to many friends here in the U.S. Stand strong together and listen to one another, because together you can start the long healing process that needs to happen. My heart goes out to all in the UK. With much love, Detroit Michigan U.S.

:I am glad to hear that you are ok and as i am sure all the rest of the Lazylaces visitors, my thoughts are with the familys and victims of this horrific attack on London. Something needs to be done before this becomes normal for the new generations. We live in a world where we are supposed to be loving and protecting each other not blowing one another up. Although nothing has been confirmed, it is believed to be the work od al'quieda (cant spell it) this has to be stamped out before nothing is left in the world but war and destruction. I am sure in true Brit style that Londoners and the rest of the UK will continue to move forward and not let the terrorists beat us. My deapest sympathy goes out to all thoes who have been any victim in any manner of the sense to this horrific attack.
Claire
:i agree with all the other comments glad to hear that u are ok. i hope london and the uk can move forward and not let this stop us from achieving great things. my thoughts and prayers are with those who lost thier lives or are fighting for lives. love to everyone take care
