Escape To Obion IV
It's week four and Episode Four of the Escape To Obion point'n'click adventure saga. How long can they keep up this fantastic rate of producing great point'n'click games? I mean obviously I'm already looking forward to Epoisdoe 5 next week, but surely they need to take a break by now? [subbed by Helanren].

Repsonse to 3 wheel in cottage

Just keep clicking them till you get something. Click the first button (once) then the second one a bunch of times. If nothing, click the first button (once) then the second. Repeat until something occurs

red and blue things: I have been trying to

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
connect the lamps as in the previous puzzles, but without success

However,

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
if you ignore the blue/red colors and look at the 4 "wings" of each wheel, you notice some are open and some are filled in with black. The black ones look like the parts that make up letters and numbers on a digital display, e.g. on a calculator (remember what 7145 used to look like upside down?). Maybe that is the clue and you have to make up some letter or number that way?

Blue and Red pipes

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Helanren is right. You do make a year in the middle with the digital clock type shapes.

However, this puzzle can be done using pipe colours.
If you start at the edges connecting pipes to bulbs and work inwards.

Think in terms of the nodes between the tiles.
No pipe colour should finish so you have to link all the tiles so that there are no 'dead-ends' of any colour.

And if you can't be bothered doing that, here's the answer.
Although you may have to complete the puzzle anyway for it to register and unlock another puzzle.

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Digital bits make '1872'

Hope that helps.

I think the first jigsaw/sliding puzzle...

Gives the Hex for the setting of the Enigma machine

Which we must remember

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
The note tells us should go in descending order

I'm guessing

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
17th, 27th and 7th have something to do with the calendar... and the year gotten from the pipes puzzle should help us work out what

Decoding message from locker room...

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Using 94e as hex and putting indescending order gives e94.
Then just type the letters to decode the message.

I was expecting it to be harder and trying to work out what would create that message if typed. Came up with a load of rubbish. ;-)

Again, for the terminally lazy...

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
decoded message reads THURSDAY THREE SIX

I "accidentally" won the game...
I did the 3 wheel puzzle like Dan said, then the door beside it opened and by listening and trial and error I got the code... and won.
I didn't even look at the blue and red puzzle

*Sigh* feeling slightly unfulfilled

Managed to solve almost all puzzles so far except the blue/red one. I was convinced I had them all connecting, but nothing happened so I assume there is something I have missed.
I have been at this for a while now so I hope I'm not too far away :o)

Finished it the proper way ;-)

Wasn't sure that I used the

from the first puzzle though.
I found notes dated
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
May 27th (=Monday) and June 7th (=Friday), but none for the 17th.
Maybe that was the clue to the spiky discs?

the 17th, 7th and 27th relate to the days of the week.
I remember coming across one of those notes scattered around, that mentioned they gave each other codenames such as Wednesday and Monday. Wonder if this is relevant.

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
There is another building near the shed with another note and setting for the Enigma machine. I didn't find it at first.

This gives you the Month. The year has come from the pipes puzzle. Check the days which 27h 7th and 17th fall on and convert this to symbols on the spikey disc puzzle.

Hello all,

You know, reading the notes scattered around, one mentions the code
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
"xxvmqxpx"
to use with the enigma machine, only I do not know the proper Hex setting to decode it. I was just wondering if anyone figured this out? I confess that I stopped looking because it seems that I have managed to open the room containing the "names, addresses, and contact information" that you are supposedly looking for. Why keep running after you have crossed the finish line, right? BUT, I must say that in this episode, there did not seem to be very many carry-over from one puzzle to the next, except maybe to gain the access to the final puzzle. My opinion? I found this episode to be too easy, given that you did not have to decipher any symbols or clues from early puzzles to help solve later ones. Anyone else out there agree with me?

Dan

I'm also very confused. I solved also the 3 puzzles needed (the only ones I was able to solve) and suddenly it said "mission accomplished". Weird!!! Is in on purpose??? Well then it's really a waist of time trying to solve the other puzzles. I really don't know at the moment what to say about this .... since I'm at a state of shock...

Helanren

:
Binmania (see post 13.02 hrs):

To work out how the Enigma works:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
try e.g. typing the same letter 8 times, then try typing the same letter, but changing the hex code
you will notice that

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
in the first case, the letters go down, so if the first result was h, the second time you type the same letter gives g, the third f etc.
In the second case, if you add 1 to the code, the answer goes up by one as well. So if 321 transforms a to e, 322 transforms it to f, 323 to g etc.

Furthermore:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
the second number of the code is unimportant, 321=322=3A2 etc., but the sum of the first and third is what counts

Combining all the info,
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
the sum of 1st number + 3rd number + “number of click” is the number used in a Caesar’s shift of the input.

So, if you want to recreate the code using E94 as hex, just type this load of rubbish :

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
JZONQDCC JZLAC PKB

:-)

Helanren, (from yesterday)
Yes, I had the basics of the code letters becoming closer to the pressed letter each time, but before I spent too much time on working that out I tried typing the garbage and came up with useful words.
Well done on analysing the code to that degree. I think I got to JZO before getting frustrated with the fact that it didn't make anything and trying the other way.

Candy,

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Try moving some of the other tiles so that there are no dead ends to the blue and red pipes.

There is one tile with a red line straight across and a blue line straight across and no digital number bits. Try turning this thru 180 degrees.

I'm not sure if it definitely has to gong, but try these things and it should do.

And this June 7, C2, L11, W2 doesn't seem to relate to anything.

I thought this episode was really good until this was added. The puzzles didn't require a knowledge of AstroPhysics of Alchemy and could all be done using logic and the clues from other puzzles.

Unfortunately you could also complete it doing just three puzzles with brute force, but there's no joy in that and no satisfaction. So why bother?

This new puzzle is too obscure for me.
June 7, yes... and I have a year.
c could be hex, as could the 2.
But I haven't seen anything relating to L or W.

Erm... guess I'm asking for help, please?

probably not , but a) it gives others the possibility to try and work it out themselves if they are just as crazy as I am, and b) it gave me the possibility to experiment with those nested spoilers I always see people use on this site :-)

Solved the light-puzzle, the jigsaw-puzzle, the wooden slider-puzzle. Now I'm stuck on the Enigma Machine and don't know exactly how the calendar relates to it or whatever. I know know that on the key (the wooden "star") there are the first letters of the day of a week and there is always a shift of 3. But now no idea what to do (how is this key related to the calender or to the rotation???) .... Any hints?
(At least I read the whole literature on the Enigma Machine... unfortunately it didn't help really up to now).

just because, as i understand, we need word from 7 letters (i think its logic?.. if you see 7 empty points - you try to find word from the 7 letters)....That's why the blank line - i counted as one....I'm wrong?....(((( Ehi....

Sorry Blink, my English is not so good, maybe i did not understand the question......
