Da Vinci Code Quest

The Da Vinci Code Quest began on April 17th (drat missed it, but *phew* - you can play catch up), and gives you a puzzle to solve every day for 24 days. If you solve all 24 puzzles correctly you have a chance of winning "untold riches" (tickets to preview screenings of the film would be my uncharitable guess). The two "puzzles" I've played so far have been simple, but quite nice, flash mini games. I'm not sure if things are going to get harder as time goes on. The best thing about the game, at least for g33ks like me, is that it integrates into your personalised google homepage, so I'll actually remember to play everyday. See the pic below [subbed by THC & sopdox].

I checked Wikipedia for the first symbol

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
blade

but I can't find the answer for the second symbol
I've tried everything that looks similar from wikipedia but none of the words work (templar, potent, pommee, patonce, flory, fleur, bottony, etc.) lol
any direction would be appreciated.

I don't even understand what I'm supposed to be doing on the second puzzle. I keep clicking on things that match and they highlight, but nothing happens. The instructions are beyond vague. Grrr......

OK, I think it's doing something now ... but I never see a symbol on the man. All I get is a message telling me there are no further pairs and do I want to reset the puzzle.

for those who couldn't find it. I certainly couldn't - none of the strategies worked for me! But I suppose that's because wiki was down.

What is going on with the second puzzle?! I have somehow (without realising what I am doing) merged two bits of bellybutton fluff (well, they look like that to me) but had no idea how it happened and now I am stuck, stuck, stuck. Any help would be greedily appreciated!

For those of you still struggling with the second puzzle, I finally worked it out. Basically, you have to click on two pieces of "fluff" that are separated by one square. They'll merge to become one piece. Keep doing that until you've clicked and merged all of them and have ended up with only one piece.

Has anyone else spotted the little scrap of paper at the bottom right of the character profiles' window on the link? If you move your cursor over it, it moves slighlty! Click and "peel" to the left to find goodies that may come in useful in future, I reckon!

If anyone wants to figure it out themselves, here are some clues (not answers) for the third puzzle. (:

Third Puzzle
First question:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
You've probably seen this symbol before (e.g. on old French royal family crests and shields). It's actually a lily flower, but in a different language. ;) Try using babelfish.

Second question:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Come on, if you've read the Da Vinci Code, you must know this answer! But anyway, try looking up Leonardo Da Vinci in Wikipedia. Look for "influential drawings".

Third question:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
You could solve this mathematically by figuring out x in 26^x=11881376 using logs, or if you get lazy you can go to the US prize page and count the number of dials on the cryptex at the bottom. :P

I'm playing the game against their rules: you have to be an inhabitant of the UK (or US or Austria) to play the game. Will I be punished for it? ;)

Help With Adding Comments:
SPOILERS/HINTS: Use the special <spoiler>, or <hint>, tags by wrapping them around your comment if you want to provide help in games comment threads. 'Wrap a tag' around your comment by placing one tag in front of your comment, and one tag after. See the examples below:
  • Just type a regular comment.
  • <spoiler>Wrap spoilers for games in spoiler tags</spoiler>.
  • <hint>Wrap hints for games in hint tags</hint>.
If you are still stuck, try copying and pasting one of the examples above into the comment box, or use the hint & spoiler buttons.

Simply enter the email address from your Gravatar account in the email field when adding your comment if you would like to use this feature. This is purely optional though, and you do not need an Avatar, or a Gravatar account, to use the comments.
