The First Door
Puzzle fans may like to try out The First Door, it's a URL changing puzzle, although it is a little different from the norm, having no source code clues, and requiring no graphics manipulation software. Personally I haven't got too far, being stuck with some broken dominos (see above), which hopefully will make more sense to you when you get to them than they did to me. Here's what I think is an official description of the game that got sent through to me:

A new quest began at 12 o'clock tonight called The First Door. A series of tricky puzzles where the answers of them link up to form the idea of the quest: Find the person who needs help: me. I am hiding somewhere in the world and only through the answers to the puzzles can you find my location! I need to be so cryptic in case those who are looking for me find me first. No hunting in the source code or need for photo manipulation software, all you need is the Internet, some skill and the ability to learn things you didn't know before. Please, help me.

[subbed by The First Door (?)].

Google doesnt want to work with me today. I think I must be missing something when I look because I'm really not seeing where he's mean't to be...

Because it wasn't playing nice. (I know, I know it was user error, but I would much rather just blame Google.)

Oh Mouse... even bringing puzzles into the comments!
As for your idea, I'm not sure about it, it's quite a common
one. I'll have to think of new puzzles, I guess.

I have read through a few dozen posts about the directional thinking, and i truly feel damntricky's pain. Can anyone throw me an additional clue please?

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
i got TIETIEEY by zigzagging down and looking left or right on the QWERTY keyboard. Then i got IKXNTMWN by doing the same thing on the opposite side using the Dvorak keyboard. and other random numbers if i use QWERTY for both. But i just can't decipher all the cryptic clues to figure out how to find the password!

There's an element of Noah's Ark about this one - the animals went in two by two. Look right and then look left for the next pair

Hope that doesn't confuse you more:)

I don't know if i'm MORE confused, but i do have several more random strings of letters that don't even come close to making actual words... =)

this won't really help with finding the answer, but the answer is logical and not a random string of letters. When you get it right you will know.

directional thinking clue at post #561 too.

Comment 1071, Wednesday, June 28th 2006 06:55:00 PM

Mr. ii

:
Basically, and I think I commented on this above somewhere, a long long time ago... there are two distinct parts to this puzzle... figuring out the method for crossing the street, and then figuring out the format, i.e. the way the letters should be aligned. The latter is much more simplistic than the former. Line them up correctly, then cross the street - always right first (left in america, but whose counting).

Directional Thinking:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
The left column, on QWERTY, the letters to the left of them from top to bottom are: SIVDBECY, right column, letters to teh right are: TKEYINEY. I have tried alternating those, but get nothing. I have tried using both the letter from the right AND the letter from the left for each one, still get gibberish. Two by two like the ark isn't getting me anywhere, since looking at the two at a time does not reveal a pattern. Banging my head on my desk here!

As for driving on one side or the other, i don't see how that helps, since whichever side i am on, the letterrs aren't adding up to anything!
