ITMG 2.0
The IT Manager Game 2.0 (ITMG2.0) could be called Sim IT Manager. It's a very odd game to play on Sunday as it's very much like being at work, at least for me, as you sort out computer issues, train, keep you staff happy, etc. I found it quite addiciting though as I had to play for just a little longer just to reach my next goal a few times when I was thinking I really should quit out and get on with something else. There are also some rather odd mini games in there to mix it up a little, fighting hackers, bulding servers, etc. Quite a slow burner this one, but worth a look, as long as you donm't mind registering [subbed by george].

Tafkam: Actually N-O! I am another regular lazylaces gamer but I have never used "Horny" as a handle(nickname). I'm a female too, I think "Horny" is a male. I've always used my regular lazylaces NN, but I couldn't resist commenting on this one. It just seemed so silly and an anonymous reminder might have been in order.

I can't figure out how to get people's computers to a server other than the default.

But this game is great. I like these puppeteer-type games. And I'm so glad someone has made tech support seem like fun. Does anyone think it's weird that the little techies run when you pick them up? Since when do TSP's run?

I don't like some of the mini games you have to play (mostly because I can't win them...heh) but the anti-virus one is fun.

The sound seems to go out on mine. I can't get *any* sound anymore.

Oh, and does anyone have any tips on how to increase productivity? Or the budget?

Free online games are good, even if I hate Windows computers...

I love how well-made these promotional games are getting. Capitalistic societies are good for something, huh? :D

Thanks George!

Yeah, I hate the minigames. I think I've only beat one all the way, but really they aren't fun at all.

lawd, I got screwed when I hired TWO staff members because at the beginning of the day I wouldn't have any money, so I wouldn't be able to buy the new employees any equipment so they'd fall asleep and leave :{

I must be the biggest dork ever. It took me a whole "day" and losing all but two employees to incompetent IT support to figure out that I have to drag my little avatar to the problem to fix it. Argh!

freaky you stop learning when your guy reaches 100% then you move him to the next one. And i too am addicted to this game. so far my stock is up to 100$ and rising. but i've learned all i can, is there a way to learn more past going through each tree?

Hmmm....it seems that if you quit the mini-games (like the ones for hackers and viruses) you don't accrue the penalties that you would if you had lost the game. For example, I quit the hacker mini game and my productivity wasn't compromised. It actually went up 2% !

Finally moved to Level 2, which is like starting all over again from scratch except that things break a lot more often. Each level is SO slow to get going until you build some momentum.

My favorite part is that it is lifelike in one respect: you have to decide whether to increase productivity a tiny bit at a time as often as possible (by upgrading very slightly) & end up with a lot of unuseable junk at the end, or wait forever to buy the best & not waste. I'm too impatient. But I didn't get past Level 1 until I had upgraded every worker to highest possible computers (laptops for executive & sales b/c of meetings & PCs for production).

If you quit the game - how do you restart where you left off. Maybe I'm missing something sooo obvious - but I just can't figure how I can reload a game?

To restart you have to finish a day. If you quit in the middle of a day, it loses that day.

I stuck it out to Level 3, where it has gone to a 2-story building. You have to keep going until all available spots for employees are filled, and have production high, to reach the end of a level. Near the end of a level it is very tedious just waiting for days to go by until employees are all added (one per day).

It is pointless to get medium-grade computers and upgrade again later. It goes faster to just wait & get the very best PCs for production, and best laptops for sales & management. After a while it is pretty boring, but I come back & play a "day" when Graeme and Jay have nothing new. :-)
