Wanpa Quest: Tencho Dungeon
With Wanpa Quest: Tencho Dungeon your guess is as good as mine as to what is going on. That is: We're clueless. At least I am. By name it continues the Wanpa Series, but it seems to be a departure from the other games, with battles (against what looks like pots or plates), an HP system, collecting leaves, point'n'clicking random bits of grass, rocks & pots, around a "tencho dungeon". Confused? You will be... [subbed by higgo].

Also, bit nitpicky, I know, but it's TENCHO Dungeon not TECHNO Dungeon which could explain the lack of Strong Bad's techno groove...

* i went down to "52" and...NADA! same landscpae of rocks and grassand stairs...oh, and pleanty of clam shell fights!
*after collecting 20 items (leaves, swords, rings, shields, pieces of paper and bowls of...?), i was unable to collect or pick up anything else. What's up with that?
* my blue bar ran down with each click and for the last "39" stories or so of this dungeon I've been able to still fight the clam successfully without anything in the blue bar
* the red bar gets restored with each click of green grass

gotta say, sorry, but i'm SO not impressed....

GUYS!! It looks like it's an RPG. Even in the trial stages it looks promising. Ramen is probably for getting HP back, etc. I think it's great that Wanpa is working on an RPG. So many "HATES" for a game that's in beta. I'm gonna give some love to even it out.

How are you supposed to attack on this game? I tried using the knife from my inventory, I lost a few hit points though. What a stupid game.

Guys chill, it is in a testing and phase and you can't do very much, it says so right under the game. Just give it some time to become finalized to start bashing it.

Here's a basic instruction manual. Oh, and for starters, this isn't so much a point-and-click game as it is a first-person RPG.

The Dungeon

Tencho must navigate his way through a massive dungeon. You can move from room to room with the directional buttons on the screen. Your goal is to find the staircase on each floor and use it to progress. Note that once Tencho moves on to the next floor, he can't go back by normal means.

The Map

As Tencho explores each room of the dungeon, he compiles a map, which you can see in the lower-right corner of the screen. The flashing red dot is his current location, the gray square is the staircase to the next floor, and the green numbers indicate how many usable items are in each room.

Features of the Dungeon

While exploring the dungeon, you may encounter various items. They can be inside chests or pots, or near rocks or grass. Click on one of these containers/locations to examine it. If there is an item there, click on it to put it into your inventory. Note that these places may be trapped, regardless of whether they have an item; if they are, Tencho may take damage when he examines them.

The Inventory

The inventory is the list of items on the right side of the screen; it can hold a maximum of 20 items. You select items by clicking on them, and can equip them with the USE button; you can equip a blade, a shield, and one ring. I don't know much about the hierarchy of the items, but a Stone Blade is typically more powerful than a Knife. Food restores certain stats, like your HP and "power" (some foods decrease other stats), scrolls can act like the maps and compasses from Zelda games (but only on the current floor), and leaves do all kinds of things, from increasing your maximum HP to teleporting you to a random square on the map.

Battles

Battles occur randomly throughout the dungeon, and are turn-based. Tencho's turn always comes first, and he can attack, try to escape, or use/equip an item during his turn. If he wins the battle, he gains experience points; if he is defeated (that is, his HP drops to 0), the game ends. I'm assuming you have prior RPG experience, so I'll leave it at that. When Tencho is not in a battle, he regains 1 HP after a few "actions" (moving, examining, etc.) he performs. The number of actions it takes to regain HP seems to vary.

Tencho's Status

The bar to the left of Tencho's inventory is his status. From top to bottom, the numbers indicate his attack, defense, "power," experience points, and the number of items he is currently holding. His attack and defense are determined by the blade and shield he has equipped, but his "power" overrides both, and can be raised or lowered with items or enemy attacks.

Saving and Continuing

While there is no in-game option to save, a game in progress can be continued from the title screen as long as cookies are enabled on your browser.

Some of this information might be wrong, but for Pete's sake, I only know so much Japanese.
