Inanimate Alice

Inanimate Alice is a (slightly) interactive tale of Alice, a girl who seems to be always losing her parents. The stories are told through a mix of text, sounds and images with some interaction (more so as the chapters progress). Check out the site for chapters 1 & 2, I found chapter 3 here... interesting, and I could see it eventually becoming a completely interactive game [subbed by troy].

7th. Not sure quite what to think about Alice's parents. They seem to have a danger jones and Alice gets caught up in their escapades! Although, since there are several years between each episode, maybe their parenting skills aren't quite that bad.

Strange little stories/games. Are they supposed to be educational? Fun? Because they're not quite hitting any high notes in any category, although the visuals were very nicely done. I liked finding all the dolls in the Russian episode best.

I don't mean to be a drag..
But i thought the whole thing was stupid..
And I don't see how anyone would like it.
Maybe I'm just being a critic.
I really did think it was a waste of time though.

Hi all, just wanted to say thank you for checking out our Alice stories, it's really appreciated, even the negative feedback is useful for making future episodes better.

Lady Lark, I think you are absolutely right about Alice's parents! The aims of the series as a whole is difficult to write briefly here, but one key aim is to introduce people who have never come across electronic literature and interactive games to them, starting with almost no interaction in episode 1 leading up to a full complex game in the final episode (and more beyond that, but I can't say what yet). So for most of you experienced multimedia users, the games up to this point will probably seem very easy!

Katie/Cyberjar88, are you still having problems with that doll inside the player? It's possible the mouse freezing problem means you might need to play on a computer with more processor power; or it might be a bug that we should look at fixing... it shouldn't be impossible though, as most people do manage to get it eventually.

Botzi - well found! For those who haven't found it yet -

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
You can change the player skin by clicking the text that says 'zeron wire' at the top right of the player. Change the player color by hovering over the color bar at the top of the player.

Lea - sorry you didn't like it! Hope you'll still come back to check out future episodes though.

These games are kind of creepy with Alice not knowing anything about her parents problems and the sudden traveling around....

Help With Adding Comments:
SPOILERS/HINTS: Use the special <spoiler>, or <hint>, tags by wrapping them around your comment if you want to provide help in games comment threads. 'Wrap a tag' around your comment by placing one tag in front of your comment, and one tag after. See the examples below:
  • Just type a regular comment.
  • <spoiler>Wrap spoilers for games in spoiler tags</spoiler>.
  • <hint>Wrap hints for games in hint tags</hint>.
If you are still stuck, try copying and pasting one of the examples above into the comment box, or use the hint & spoiler buttons.

AVATARS/GRAVATARS: Comments now support Gravatars if you would like to use your own user avatar/picture/icon on your comments. Simply enter the email address from your Gravatar account in the email field when adding your comment if you would like to use this feature. This is purely optional though, and you do not need an Avatar, or a Gravatar account, to use the comments. Note that if you enter your email address in the email field, but it's not associated with a Gravatar account a default avatar image will be used.
