Musaic Box
Musaic Box is the hidden object, music playing, tile moving, puzzle solving, music history educating, adventure game combo you never knew you were searching for, but you were (nb: sound most definitely required to play). It sounds (geddit?) a little complicated and clunky, and it is a bit, but the tutorial style leads you through the proceedings, and it's really a rather pleasant and satifying game all in all [subbed by Lucas].

BONUS: The game auto saves your progress apparently (I just tried it out accidentally!).

Graeme, your shockwave crashed during gameplay, too? :)

I guess we should make it clear that this is not a full version of the game though.

Graeme, it doesn't seem to have autosaved my progress... My Shockwave crashed, I reloaded the game and now it's at the beginning...

It is amusing, but not enough so to continue playing.

Game doesn't want to play nice for me. I can finish the first room but when I try to move to the second room it hangs on the loading screen.

(Win XP SP3, all browsers, latest version of flash.)

:-(

Haha, I don't remember a game reviewed here that had this much discrepancy between the rating and the comments :)

I'm in the same boat as BM. I just can't seem to get the second room to load at all.
It just sits at the loading screen.

I'm gonna hate then... surely ambitious, but ultimately as challenging as any dreadful casual game might be. Reminds me of these HOGs dressed up as adventure games...

Still, I don't really hate it...

This isn't the kind of HOG that puts fish in the curtains though and I appreciate it for that. I also like a lot of the music in this game. My only complaint would be that sometimes you really need more than the head melody/instruments, otherwise it's just guesswork. Oh, and for some reason the instruments sounded very synthetic now and then :D. No, it's not really a puzzle or an escape or a HOG, but I had a lot of fun, the graphics are nice and it's not much of a pixelhunt.

"fish in the curtains"... heh!

Yeah, I didn't mean to say it was a HOG so much as it reminds me of one of those "high-end" HOGs that are 95% style and 4% well-it's-free-or-nearly-so and %1 (to be honest) substance.

Just sort of one-trick ponies dressed up with blings and gling-glows.

As I say, I don't have any strong dislike for it, it's just not my thing at all and being that there have been some other good and maybe even great things lately... I ain't gonna slam it.

With these different types of instruments, No doubt I can make songs on my own.
