The Crimson Room
I drank too much last night. I thought what time it was now. I felt thirst of the throat. The bed was different from usual. Is this a hotel? No, it does not seem to be a hotel. I am shut up. I have to escape...

Can you escape the Crimson Room? Put your thinking hat on, collect the objects, click, click again, and click some more, in this tricky puzzle game. It took me a while, but I got out in the end (post for help via the comments if you need it), can anyone tell me what the CD case was for though?

man that was fun! i was able to solve it after 15 minutes of clicking here, there and everywhere. i'm also wondering what the cd case is for. i really have a soft spot for flash click 'n think games like these (e.g. Somorost) that make my brain cells work! can't wait for the "next room".

It took me a lot longer than 15 mins as there was one of the objects, I won't say which one as I don't want to print a spoiler, I just couldn't find. I clicked high and low, but just couldn't find it. What really impressed was how much entertainment one room provided, I'm also looking forward to the next room, and I'm wondering what a whole house would be like.

Fanbloodytastic! But I need your help. I've got the ring, 3 keys, the cd case, a memorandum, power supply cable, red box (ring in place) - what do I do now!!!

Comment 3, Tuesday, February 17th 2004 08:06:00 PM

Graeme

:
Daisy - you need to do a whole heap more clicking! Maybe around the bed. Also some things need clicking more than once. I hope I've helped without saying too much...

:
Okay, I can safely conclude the CD case was a red herring. That's a true fact, unless someone can say otherwise. :)

Having open and shut it a million times, and failing to insert any of the other items into it, I have to concur. perhaps it's a prerequisite for "the next room".

:
Confused: why does my comment time say 20:07 if (a) it appears afters after yours [made at 20:17] and (b) I only made it about 10 minutes ago [more like 20:27]?

Comment 7, Tuesday, February 17th 2004 08:32:00 PM

Graeme

:
Haven't got round to sorting that yet - the time recorded is actually from a hidden field on the form so it's most likely the time you opened the page.

I've been in the bed, under the bed, under the pillow a gazillion times! Well okay, maybe 20. Sigh. NYPD Blue is on in 5 mins, must dash. Dammit, it's a good game. And I *hate* stuff like this normally!

I got something from under the bed!!!!!!!!!! can i say it in French so that-- maybe not.

Comment 10, Tuesday, February 17th 2004 08:54:00 PM

From you say you still have some bed clicking to do! I'm still desperately trying not to say too much...

Tip of the day: don't disconnect your internet connection to go watch tv for an hour... you'll have to start all over again. [Insert swear word here.]

Click more acurately.

Any clues where I get the combination from?

Comment 18, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 12:11:00 PM

Graeme

:
One of the collected objects should lead you to the combination.

Thanks Graeme!!

Comment 20, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 12:32:00 PM

How do you combine objects? I accidentally combined the ring with the box but don't know how I did it...

Must finish work early to concentrate on that damm room!

Comment 21, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 01:05:00 PM

Graeme

:
Examine the object that you're trying to put things on (eg the box), select the item you want to put on it from your inventory, then click where on the object you want to put it.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

Comment 25, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 07:28:00 PM

Fluffy: The page still seems to work for me - perhaps it was just a temporary thing.

Comment 26, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 09:24:00 PM

Graeme

:
Rosie: You're stuck on the same item I was. You need to do LOTS more clicking around the bed.

If you enjoyed this and <a href="/article.asp?p=425">Samorost</a>, you'd probably like <a href="/article.asp?p=203">Chasm</a>. I can't remember many similar games, but you can try browsing my <a href="/default.asp?c=Games">games archive</a> to see what you find.

Comment 29, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 10:48:00 PM

Graeme

:
<strong>*SPOILER*</strong> : if you're totally stuck and really, really, really want to cheat try this <a href="http://www.lucabrasi.net/yuppicide/crsolve/">pictorial walkthru</a>. It totally takes the fun out of the thing, makes the game last only a few seconds, but it will help you. On the up side it also adds more evidence to uselessness of the CD case theory.

Comment 30, Wednesday, February 18th 2004 10:55:00 PM

JohnQ118

:
The empty CD case is NOT a red herring - it's function is to get you to open the CD player to look for the CD - and what do you find?

Comment 31, Thursday, February 19th 2004 12:39:00 PM

Graeme

:
But you can open the CD player without the CD case can't you?

Comment 32, Thursday, February 19th 2004 01:20:00 PM

JohnQ118

:
yes, but thats the clue - to look in the CD player (and get the cord, etc) - most don't need it.

Comment 33, Thursday, February 19th 2004 05:20:00 PM

Graeme

:
I think trying to open the CD player was about the first thing I did. I kind of take your point, I like to think though that it will be more useful in the next room.

Comment 38, Thursday, February 19th 2004 10:14:00 PM

To get all the items you had to do loads of clicking, right? The movie gives a BIG hint about where to click next.

When you win.......if you read the page carefully the maker of the game tells you to "keep the cd case" as it may be of use in his next room. Appears to me as though he intends to continue the game. Yay! =)
