Gymnasium Escape is a Japanese point'n'click game that looks great, but unfortunately has quite a large language barrier that makes playing it a little tricky. All I've managed to work out so far is how to turn on the power in the storeroom, and I was quite impressed with that. Perhaps between us we can work out what is going on here... [subbed by f00].

Roko
:Random clicking on Japanese text. Then ON / OFF in English. On/off what?
Pufje
:dunno
Roko
:....Cause there's nothing funner than blue dialogue boxes in a language you don't understand. Second visit to the basketballs....
Graeme
:ON/OFF does the light in the storeroom - that much I have worked out.
Pufje
:i have no cleu at all im totally stuck
Pufje
:ok i have 3 places to go: in the gym-hall, on the stage and in a storage room
i can click some stuf on and off and i can click some japanese stuff.
someone translate please
Roko
:Ought the floor in the gym to be so very highly polished? Won't the players slip? And why are the basketball hoops at the sides, rather than at the ends, of the court?
Pufje
:o.O dint notice that XD
Roko
:Woohoo! Turned the lights off and went into the dark storeroom. Just....because I could.
Pufje
:when the light are off in the storage room doesnt there supposed to be light comin from the window?
btw found no item yet :-(
Roko
:Ok storeroom....clicking on most things gives 0 result, clicking on strange multi-tiered vaulting horse thing gives dialogue box with 4 incomprehensible options y pues nada.
Roko
:You raise an interesting point about the window....
Pufje
:everytime you go somewhere you get this choise (i suppose it means go or stay)
when you click at the bottom om the nice polished floor you get the same choise but im not going anywhere.
is it a bug?
Roko
:Or maybe you have to do something before you can go in that direction....I bet it's all explained in Japanese!
MC
:I think this game is not to play without nowing something about japanes language .....I hate that
Roko
:I'm more than a tad frustrated here. A 'tad' is more than a jottle but less than a widget, if anyone's interested.
Calvin
:All these classroom games aren't funny, cause all you can do is clicking away the blue screen.
Pufje
:but we cant give up can't we?
Roko
:Desperately trying to remove basketballs from container so I can bounce them hard off the walls to relieve the tension.
Tillybaby
:Well to be honest Pufje I'm giving up because after 15 mins. of making no progress whatsoever I became slightly bored. No staying power I suppose.
MC
:Sorry Pufje...but I can't play this game ...it only frustrated me...that I don't know what to do..or should do...because of the language problem
Roko
:I bet little, little, tiny, tiny Japanese children are playing this game right now and laughing at us.
Unless they can't read enough kanji yet....
Pufje
:im still trying coue im bored
Roko
:Lots of polishment on that stage, too. At least this is a nice clean game....
Roko
:Currently trying to rig a tub of pit's blood on the overhead lighting so it'll spill all over that wannabe prom queen, whose telekinetic abilities will set the gym on fire, causing some much-needed mayhem. Yep.
Roko
:PIG's blood. Sorry to all Stephen King fans.
Handyrman
:This is one of those games that does'nt work in Mozilla Firefox :(
Roko
:Handyman, you aren't missing anything at all....no-one can do anything in this game.
Troubled
:We should find a page were we could transform japanese to english..sorry about my bad english
Handyrman
:There's plenty of such sites, but it doesn't help becourse we cant cut an paste in the flash window
Blompäronet
:I know some japanese but that really doesn't help me... maybe I don't know enough... doesn't seem to be much to do around this gymnasium anyway..
Handyrman
:I have read translatet versions of japanese gamesites. They tell that this is a 3-view game. So we should be able to do something in the state we are in. I have allso tryed to translate som of the messeges in the textbox, but it make no sence and it is really hard to do the way i tried to:
I opend a random japanese news site. And the game. And Notepad. And a Alta Vista translation site.
The i found the same japanese letters as in the game in the japanese newspaper, and copyed them one by one into my notepad. And then i copyed the result from notepad to the translater.
Handyrman
:blompäronet, could you translate the 4 possibillytis given when you click the "horse" in the storeage room?
Darkbex
:Well I started the game when the first post went up. I've scoured the internet looking for translation possibilities and was hoping my first post would bring good news.....
I'll keep trying as I'm also stuck in the store cupboard!
Handyrman
:The red thing in the storage room says
"It is the line pulling"
The second line i can't translate
Bwansy
:The second line says something like "lime powder". In Japan, they often use this device to draw lines on the field using lime powder.
If you click on the boxes in the middle, there are 4 actions: ride on it, go into the middle, kick it, and do nothing.
Sorry I can only read a little Japanese.
Roko
:Ooh, I understood 'middle'! But that was all and it didn't help.
Bwansy
:Some more translations: if you click on something that there are two options in Japanese (with the second character of the top option being the same as the first two characters of the bottom option), the top one is "yes", the bottom one is "no". Keep this in mind because they appear in so many Japanese escape games.
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
If you click on the baskets it willl ask "Shoot?" (Yes/no)
Bwansy
:I have already translated in comment #39.
Tiggs
:I love you guys so I am going to tell you that if you look to the right you will see the words ENGLISH VER. and can play this game in English!!!
Idv82
:click english version to right of screen
Vicster
:there is an english version to the right, when the game starts
Tiggs
:But the English doesn't seem to help the game... all I got was a:
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
basketball
Idv82
:still can't do much, but sweat
Roko
:Hmmm....it does say 'English version' to the right of the screen, yet only a minute or so ago I clicked on it and it didn't, only Japanese links....clicked on one and got what looks like a cool Grow type game. Now every time I click I do get the 'English version' link.
