it is a bit weird - you have to type in the 3 letters from your note, press OK then the password from the letters you found, again OK.

that was the one I had trouble finding at first.

Lighting them and placing them on the mantle reveals another letter.

The order for the gem colors is on the stairs the mummy is sitting on. If you click around the wall area of the stairs it will show you the color order of the gems.
