i cant get thee code. ive read comments. (me being an idiot and reading comments from earlier the year) and have been pulling my hair out cause : 1994 : will no longer work. I know i need to copy it. Ive come to a conclusion that i have to copy it from the URL. but i cant seem to do that. like... i cant copy it right? or my puter is being stoopid.
someone help if you can.
by the way, this is an awesome game. me and my brotehr were playing ealrier, and then we went and tryed the second room. Seems amazingly harder.

i was into another site that was pretty much just the URL on the memo. i had " 1871" and i kept trying that. i went to the site again and i tryed. over and over. then i realzied i exited out of my game. i just did it again (it takes a matter for 30 seconds when you know what your doing) and then voila! 1871 worked the first time.
So to anyone whos having trouble : Go to the site, if it doesnt work, just do the room over, belive me, its earier the second time around.
Also...whats the big deal about the screwdriver. i got it the frist click?

I FINALLY esacped the crimson room, was hard, but once u know what to do, u realise how easy it ws in the first place!! As soon as I got 2 the safe, I opened it with the right code from the site, and got a screw-driver, then I escaped...any1 need help?

Ummm, yeah... I've got ALL the items, put together that box, watched the movie, got the safe and... CANT GET THE RIGHT FREGGIN NUMBER COMBINATION. I started trying all of em, 0001, 0002, 0003 all the way to 9999, but i couldnt be bothered after 0879. I dont care if its cheap, BUT I NEED THAT COMBINATION. I BELIEVE IF YOU EXCEED THE TIME LIMIT IT WONT WORK. TRY IT OUT AND SEE IF IT WORKS FOR YOU.

No the CD case isn't important. It's just there because there's asterio there. If you play Viridain Room, you start with it automaticly.

This is my favorite point 'n' click series. Here's my own walkthrough:

1.) After the introduction, click on the glass plate on the hope-chest to zoom in. Take the thin ring.
2.) Zoom out. Take the Compact Disk holder, and the URL. They are in the top two drawers. NOTE: At this point, go to the URL as you can redo the game; the code for the safe later found in this game changes frequently (there's a pirated version of the game somewhere on the net), so the code can never be permanantly determined. Once you have the code, write it down, and start the game over. Moving on.
3.) Click just underneath the hope-chest to look underneath it. Take the cassette.
4.) Move the next screen over to the left. Click around near the southwest corner of the screen, near the bed, until you see a battery. Take it. Then, zoom back out.
5.) Move until you're facing the bed. Pick up the pillow, and take the item beneath it.
6.) Stay where you are. With the pillow still floating, click on the crack between the bed itself and the board supporting it. The screen will change. Take the metal stick.
7.) Move to the curtains. Open them, and take the key on the
edge of the window.
8.) Now, open and close the curtains like crazy until something falls from them. Click near the board supporting the bed's structure, towards the corner of the room. The screen will zoom in. Take the thick ring.
9.) Now, go back to the hope-chest, and unlock the two bottom drawers with the golden and silver keys. Take the cable cord, and the "small box of a mistery." (The guy who makes these games is Japanese.)
10.) Zoom in on the Compact Disk player. Attach the cable cord to let the power turn on, press its "ON" button, and open the ejector. Take the large, platinum key inside, and zoom out.
11.) Take the small red box, and place the thin ring on the hole implanted on its right side. Put the thick ring in the other hole.
12.) Put the stick of metal into the hollow part that matches it towards the bottom of the box. Now, open the box.
13.) Insert the battery where indicated. Put the cassette into the cassette holding thing, and shut the box.
14.) It's a cassette player! Watch the ENTIRE recording, or else you'll be sent back to face the wall and have to watch it all over again. In these circumstances, especially on your first play, watching the drunken guy dance around can be eerily creepy. After awhile, he'll start pointing to a cross on the wall. He'll keep pointing at it for a while, and then he'll walk away, leaving the projection to end. Make sure you have your mouse positioned where the cross was that the guy was pointing at. A few seconds later, click three times at that exact spot, and a square will appear in the wall. CLICK THAT SQUARE!!! A safe will open up, and you'll have to enter the code that you wrote down earlier to open it up, after inserting the large platinum key, that is. I cannot post the code, because it will just change a few days later. You'll just have to visit that URL...Blame the web pirates, not me.
15.) After the safe opens, take the screwdriver from it. CLICK THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREWDRIVER, OR ELSE YOU"LL BE SENT BACK TO REPEAT STEP 14 ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE TO GET RIGHT. Good luck to you, though.
16.) After you have the screwdriver go, to the blue door.
Click on it once. A closeup view of the knob will appear on your screen. Use the screwdriver on the knob to seperate it from the door. (Next time, I want a crowbar! I mean, how can you use a screwdriver to undo a knob like the one shown in the game?!? That would be impossible in real life, given you had the same knob that appeared in the game.)
17.) Click on the hole in the door. It will open, and a glamorous sound effect will play. You will exit, see the credits, and if you want, fill out a form to the author. You don't have to pay. Remember these forms determine how the next game will come out...! Afterwards, you can start crackin' at the sequel, "The Viridian Room," which is a lot scarier.
