Codebreaker
Codebreaker features 20 levels of url changing puzzle fun, and contains plenty of code breaking (hence the name), so you'll have to break out all those memories from the cryptography hut during the war. Unless they're all from reading "Enigma", in which case I'm sure Google will be willing to help [subbed by Encino Andy].

metaphor, for level 15, this will prove invaluable...

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
c c# d d# e f f# g g# a a# b

it's a guitar scale...and for each number, go up that amount on the scale...

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
i.e. a---2--5 would give you a "b" and a "d"

Pete

:
Level #5 Do I substitute a=x,b=y etc. before or after the ceasar code sort? Because if I do it before I get the same answer as the ceasar code.

Big shooter

:
Can anyone please give me a hint for 13, I am dumbfounded or just plain dumb

Comment 53, Wednesday, July 26th 2006 07:37:00 PM

Sevenscars

:
pete, level 5 is simply a question of substitution...you don't have to reorganize the letters at all, just sub the letters to decode it...

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
focus on the highlighted word at the end of the paragraph!

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq61-4.htm

and it's an anagram too, so the words won't be in exactly that order...

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
i capitalized a specific word in my last hint on purpose...it's a naval site by the way...

sevencars,

thanks, that should give me a good shot at getting it

Comment 64, Wednesday, July 26th 2006 08:12:00 PM

Andrea

:
HOLY COW sevenscars, how in the heck did you figure that out???

(I've always thought those Navajo code talkers were cool since I first learned about them...but it would never have occured to me to apply that to this!)

Comment 65, Wednesday, July 26th 2006 08:14:00 PM

Andrea

:
by the way I did get it, but I never would have found that site without you telling us about it

andrea, i just put the five words into my google.ca and that was actually the first site that came up...the header also led me to believe it was some sort of indian language...

Comment 69, Wednesday, July 26th 2006 08:23:00 PM

Sevenscars

:
metaphor, use my last clue, but instead of my original wording about going up on the scale, go to the right on the scale, if you get to the end, wrap around to the beginning...

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
you'll end up with 5 letters, but remember, our game writer likes anagrams...

Andrea

:
I thought I figured out 15, but

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
I came up with letters ACEGB. Can't seem to make a word with that. I also noticed that the puzzle lists a C string...I think it should be another E string? Is this significant?

14 turned my brain to mush...auuuuuuuughhh...maybe I should just take a break and come back!

sevenscars, i tried your hints too, but got nowhere. I have some understanding of music, but I played violin, not guitar :)

no sorry, you're a little off...that part of the clue is a red herring...

first what you need to do is figure out what the header means...

then look at the last part of the clue,

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
search what's in bold word-for-word...

Comment 76, Wednesday, July 26th 2006 09:03:00 PM

Sevenscars

:
andrea, don't worry about the missing string, it's not important...did you see post #54? use that with post #73...

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
for the first line, the "e" line, you'll get a "g" and an "a"...

Sevenscars, you still around? I am completely, absolutely stuck on level 16.

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
I have googled the following terms together: beverage, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, potassium. Also tried those with recipe and/or ingredients. I tried all the major soft drinks. Tried Gatorade. I tried converting the elements into their symbols (C,H,O,K) to see if that would yield some word, but apparently not.

Hint, please?
