Juicy Panic

Bizarre techno tunes remixed by a reindeer and an evil cat on digital turntables and Apple Macs with psychedelic background animations. Quite possibly this on drugs, or maybe I am, I certainly felt like I should be after watching through this a couple of times. The really worrying thing is when you realise that it's catchy and it's lodged itself in your head. Well if I'm going to go slightly mad for the whole of Tuesday so can you. Enjoy. Wibble.

Create An RSS Feed With ASP

At some point soon I'm planning to add an RSS feed for the site (great idea Ryan) so this guide on how get ASP to produce an RSS feed should come in handy. Syndicate lazylaces soon.

#1000

Phew! Well here it is, after over 2 years of lazylaces postings we finally arrive at post 1000.

The mini hiatus over the last couple of weeks has been down to me using every inch of my free time to get the site redesign finished in time for this post. I felt the site deserved a new set of clothes to mark the event, but I've added a style switcher in the right hand column for those of you that prefer the old blue colours. I still love them myself, but I was getting tired of looking at the same old thing all the time and fancied a change. The code redesign behind it means it will be easier for me to add extra alternative styles in the future as well.

There are a few other tweaks and changes, although lots of these are still on a 'to do' list that just seems to get longer no matter how many items I cross off. The photologs are slowly being changed over to use my own code, meaning I can ditch the clunky frames they used before, and the 'popular' links on the right are now generated dynamically from the number of recent comments, rather than being generated by hand when I can be bothered to check my referrals.

Up-coming changes include a font-size selector, improved site navigation, a site-map, content warnings for things like games that need shockwave, and an overhaul of the 'about' and 'links' pages. As always my free time is minimal so I don't when I am going to do all these things but I do have a week off work at the being of December so maybe this will get cleared up then.

I was going to make this a cheesy retrospective post with all my 'best bits' from the last two years, but the site redesign has spared you that, I'm still pleased to note though that some of my favourite posts go all the way the begining of the site, and post #1 is still one of my favourite things I've found online.

Spider

Neat little, flash animated, mouse chasing, spider. Neat that is unless you don't like spiders in which case I wouldn't recommend it and you'll be reaching for the flash animated glass and bit of paper, preferably with a flash animated partner to escort it off the premises for you. Or if you have no Buddist leanings, a flash animated slipper *squish* [neat work by onemotion].

Moment Of Silence

As you may have noticed the point'n'click game has become something of an obsession at lazylaces. I've been looking around for a while now for a commercial game in the genre that looked worth playing and in moment of silence I think I've found it. In the demo (use the downloads link on the site) you have to escape a prison and it's a nice little challenge in itself (which I've completed now). I have the full game on order from play.com (who had by far the best price I could find). If any of you gamers have tried this one out let me know as I'm sure I'll get stuck at some point, in the meantime I might be a bit quiet for a while as I puzzle my way through it.

Shootin' Starz

A bit late for guy fawkes night (although apparently not if you look out of my window), but Shootin' Starz is a neat little arcade game based on letting off fireworks (much safer than the real thing for those of you with pets).

Snow Patrol

After a week off the Friday musical interlude returns with one of my favourite bands of the moment, snow patrol. These guys are on heavy rotation on the lazylaces music systems. I'm not totally sure how well known they are outside outside the UK, but the music sampler at the top of their site for the new album is a great way to acquaint yourself witheir addictive sounds.

Treasure Box

Treasure Box is a surreal little flash game thingumy. It's not quite a point'n'click adventure game in the normal sense, but playing around with all the clicking options certainly helps you through the thing - but in this case some of the things that happen when you 'fail' are as good as finding the successful path to the end.

Northern B**tard/Southern Fairy?

Ok, this quiz will make no sense at all if you're from outside the UK, it's debatable if it makes any sense at all, but I enjoyed myself. Turns out I'm a confirmed Southern Fairy:

"Alwight, guvnor? For you are a Southern Fairy. Thank God you didn't turn out to be one of those northern gits, eh? Too many of them around for anyone's liking. And, don't even get us started on the Scots. Celebrate down your local bar with a cool pint of lager. That costs £3.00."

I'm so proud. Where do they find lager that cheap though?

Jay's Games

I'm still busy, busy, busy outside of work at the moment so posting time is still at a premium (well maybe I'm just busy, but I don't get too much free time anyway). Anyway if you're not finding enough gaming action here for your itchy mouse/trigger/keyboard gaming fingers you could do a lot worse than popping over to see Jay who has some superb games links (and one of the most cushy uni courses I've ever come across).

PS. To the lowlifes comment spamming this site at the moment - make the most of it - expect to be deleted and banned when I get my free-time back.
